Observing everyday life has always been central to my subject matter. Whether it’s an ordinary conversation with a friend or reflecting on the items in my home, I seek the poignant in the seemingly mundane. My challenge is capturing that spontaneous moment and creating an inclusive story. I work representationally in painting, drawing, and mixed media.
My current body of work unfolds a narrative concerning rituals, customs, and the passing of time through the form of teacups and teapots. I was introduced to the culture of tea-drinking at an early age; this led to my lifelong love and appreciation of these objects.
“The whole of Proust comes out of a teacup…” ~ Samuel Beckett, Proust
